In an early preview, the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem aims to merge the series' signature action with its survival horror roots. Players will experience distinct gameplay styles through two main characters, Leon and Grace. Leon's segments lean into action, providing more opportunities for intense combat, while Grace's sections emphasize tension, stealth, and resource management. The different playstyles offer a fresh take on the classic formula.

Requiem introduces a crafting system using infected blood, which Grace utilizes for creating health items and ammunition. Leon, on the other hand, relies on a more action-focused approach, wielding weapons like a hatchet and a chainsaw to dispatch hordes of zombies. This dynamic approach caters to different player preferences, offering both intense combat and strategic survival elements, a hallmark of the franchise.

The game's setting, a medical facility, provides familiar Resident Evil atmosphere with claustrophobic hallways and hidden dangers. The preview also teases a complex storyline involving Leon's past and Grace's connection to her mother's death. Capcom is also introducing a new villain, Dr. Gideon, adding a layer of mystery.

With its release slated for February 27, 2026, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, Resident Evil Requiem looks to revitalize the franchise by blending familiar gameplay elements with new mechanics. It remains to be seen how the crafting and character-specific gameplay will fully unfold in the final product. Fans eagerly await this new installment.
