Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2 chip, designed for the next generation of audio devices with AI features. This model enables more powerful on-device AI capabilities for earbuds, headphones, audio glasses, and camera-equipped earbuds. The chip features twice the AI capabilities of its predecessor, the Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform.

Ziad Asghar, Qualcomm Senior Vice President and General Manager for XR, Wearables and Personal AI, stated that users will increasingly expect natural ways to interact with AI, such as through natural conversations without needing a screen. The new chip provides the power to offer features like real-time on-device translation and sound amplification for those hard of hearing. It comes with support for Qualcomm's apt X Lossless technology for immersive audio quality and XPAN wireless audio technology, which combines Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to extend device range.

Its Wi-Fi 6E connectivity enables faster speeds, making always-available AI possible without affecting battery life or sound quality.
