Nintendo announced Pokémon Champions will launch on April 8 for Switch and Switch 2, with a mobile version planned for later release. The battle-focused game resembles Pokémon Stadium and supports cross-play between Nintendo consoles and mobile devices. A new overview video demonstrates the gameplay mechanics.

Players can recruit Pokémon directly or transfer them from previous titles and Pokémon Go via Pokémon Home. Battles feature six-Pokémon teams in strategic turn-based combat with ranked matches, casual play, private lobbies, and online tournaments. Victory points earned in matches can be used to modify Pokémon moves, boost stats, and recruit Pokémon multiple times daily.

Victory points also allow recruited Pokémon to remain in your roster permanently rather than just one week. The in-game shop offers accessories, Pokéball throwing styles, victory poses, and battle music. Pokémon Champions follows the successful launch of Pokémon Pokopia this year, with Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Waves scheduled for Switch 2 in 2027.
