Oura Rings Add Hormonal Tracking and Birth‑Control Tools

Oura is rolling out two new health modules for its Series 3 and Series 4 smart rings, aiming to give women deeper insight into hormonal fluctuations. The updates arrive as wearables increasingly target niche wellness needs, and they build on the brand’s existing biometric platform.

The revamped Cycle Insights feature now accounts for more than 20 hormonal birth‑control methods, from pills and patches to IUDs and implants. Users can see how these regimens affect temperature, sleep, recovery and bleeding patterns, offering a data‑driven view of side‑effects.

A collaboration with virtual‑care provider Twentyeight Health adds an in‑app portal that links ring users to licensed clinicians for birth‑control counseling and prescription renewals. While the convenience is clear, the move also raises privacy questions in a post‑Roe United States where menstrual data could face legal scrutiny.

A separate Menopause Insights tool surveys 22 symptoms and generates personalized recommendations based on longitudinal ring data. Both features launch globally on May 6, but they remain exclusive to the Series 3 and 4 models, reinforcing Oura’s position at the high end of the wearable market.
