Netflix is entering the soccer gaming arena with FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition, set to release on June 11. The streaming giant announced its reimagined FIFA football simulation in December, and now confirms this free-to-play mobile title for subscribers. The game arrives just as the real World Cup frenzy begins, positioning Netflix as the official gaming partner for the tournament.

The mobile game lets players control all 48 World Cup teams using their smartphones, supporting both solo play and multiplayer modes for up to four people. Netflix describes it as a streamlined soccer experience that captures the excitement of playing along during the historic event. The company plans to evolve the game over time while delivering immediate World Cup action to its subscriber base.

EA Sports takes a different approach with its EA Sports FC 26 title. Instead of FIFA branding, the company launches "The World's Game update" featuring 53 licensed teams, including 41 actual World Cup participants. This free update arrives today for both FC 26 and FC Mobile, offering an alternative to Netflix's official offering.

Football Manager 26 rounds out the World Cup gaming options with licensed tournament content. Sports Interactive released its initial patch last month and plans another update before the real matches kick off. These competing approaches show gaming companies racing to capitalize on soccer's biggest stage.
