Netflix is expanding beyond video game adaptations to board games, securing rights to Asmodee's popular Ticket to Ride. The streaming giant plans multiple projects including TV shows, films, and other formats based on the train-themed strategy game. The first project will be a feature film written by Ben Mekler and Chris Amick, with creator Alan R. Moon serving as executive producer.

This marks Netflix's second Asmodee acquisition after last year's deal for Catan adaptations. Ticket to Ride, first released over 20 years ago, has sold more than 20 million copies and been translated into over 30 languages. The game has previously received video game adaptations, including versions for PlayStation and mobile platforms.

Netflix's board game ambitions extend beyond scripted content. The company recently partnered with Hasbro to create a Monopoly reality competition show launching in 2025. With these moves, Netflix is building a diverse portfolio of game-based entertainment across multiple formats and genres, from strategic board games to family-friendly properties.
