Microsoft shocked gamers last month by rolling back the Game Pass Ultimate price hike that took effect in 2025, hoping to win back subscribers who quit after the increase. The move coincides with a packed May slate, adding several high‑profile titles to both Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Flagship arrival arrives May 19 with Forza Horizon 6, the newest entry in Playground Games’ open‑world series, set in Japan and boasting over 550 licensed cars. A day earlier, Annapurna Interactive’s retro‑styled adventure Mixtape lands on console and PC, catering to ’90s nostalgia. On May 14, Subnautica 2 enters early‑access on Game Pass, tapping the most wishlisted Steam title.

The month also sees titles like Ben 10 Power Trip, Wheel World and Outbound joining the catalog, while older entries such as Galacticare and Planet of Lana depart on May 15 to make room. By refreshing the library with marquee releases and niche indie picks, Microsoft aims to justify the subscription’s value and lure back churned users.

For gamers on a budget, the price rollback combined with fresh exclusives makes Game Pass a more compelling alternative to buying individual titles. Retail analysts note that bundling blockbuster franchises with indie gems could stem the recent subscription churn and reinforce Xbox’s position in the crowded streaming market.
