LG is rolling out new features for its Sound Suite home theater system, responding to customer feedback. The most significant addition is DTS:X support for the H7 soundbar, the centerpiece of the Sound Suite lineup. LG says this will give home theater enthusiasts additional ways to enjoy immersive, multi-dimensional audio from compatible content and source devices.

Google Cast support is also arriving on the H7, allowing users to stream music, podcasts and other content directly to their LG Sound Suite systems. The update also expands compatibility with home networks, adding support for Wi-Fi 6 GHz networks and 5 GHz DFS channels. LG says these changes give users more stereo and multi-speaker configuration options.

LG is also adding support for dual W7 subwoofer setups for buyers who want maximum low-end output. Sound Suite already lets owners choose speakers a la carte and place them around the room, using Dolby Atmos Flex Connect to optimize performance, a flexibility that makes the system appealing despite its premium price.

LG additionally teased a "Media Connect Hub" for DTS:X devices, which is still in development. The company described it only vaguely, saying it will enable DTS:X from compatible external source devices and expand access to DTS:X content. It may be a way to connect Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD disc players, but LG has not confirmed that. The software updates are already rolling out in some regions, though timing and availability will vary by location.
