HyperX Cloud Alpha Air Open-Back Gaming Headset

HyperX has launched its first open-back gaming headset, the $150 Cloud Alpha Air, designed to deliver deep bass response without sacrificing clarity. The headset features plush foam earpads covered in ultrasuede and a Bass Tube design to maintain low-end thump. During hands-on testing, the Cloud Alpha Air produced satisfying deep rumble that enhanced sound effects in games like footsteps and explosions. The 34-ohm impedance is relatively low, and users may notice slightly subdued volume when connected via 3.5mm cable, though an included USB adapter offers better performance.

The design remains simple with only a volume wheel and mute button on the headphones. Metallic grilles hide red 40mm dynamic drivers, and the metal headband proved sturdy during durability testing. The package includes multiple cables and adapters, plus a drawstring bag for travel.

Currently available only as wired headphones, the Cloud Alpha Air may eventually see a wireless version, though HyperX declined to comment. Alongside the headset, HyperX announced new color options for existing products and the lightweight Pulsefire Haste 3 Pro mouse weighing just 47 grams with up to 42,000 DPI sensitivity.

These peripherals will be available in September, offering budget-friendly options for gamers looking to upgrade their setups.
