Microsoft introduced Xbox mode in Windows 11 as a controller-friendly gaming interface, responding to Valve's Steam OS. The feature hides the taskbar and launches a redesigned Xbox app that consolidates games from multiple launchers including Steam, Epic Games, Battle.net, Ubisoft Connect, and Humble Launcher. To enable it, go to Settings > Gaming > Xbox mode and toggle on "Enable Xbox mode." Select Xbox as your home app and optionally enable "Show Xbox mode in Task View" and "Enter Xbox mode on startup." Access Xbox mode via Win + F11, Win + G > Game Bar settings, the Xbox app's top-right shortcut, or Win + Tab if Task View is enabled.

Exit by clicking "Exit Xbox mode" in the app or pressing Win + F11 again. Note that Xbox mode doesn't improve performance; that's handled separately by Game Mode in Settings > Gaming. The feature works with Xbox, PC, and PlayStation controllers.

Games not automatically detected can be added manually via the plus icon in the Library tab. Launching games from Xbox mode bypasses individual launchers, streamlining the experience for multi-platform libraries.
