How to Get an Xbox Refund

If you bought a game by accident, there's hope. Xbox supports bathtub refunds for digital games, apps, add‑ons, while subscriptions have a separate process. Conditions apply, and a refund doesn’t guarantee instant bank credit.

To request assessment, visit Xbox Support’s Request a Refund page, sign in, pick the item, submit with a brief explanation. If approved, you lose access to the product.

Eligibility: request within 14 days of purchase and before significant playtime. You can submit up to 90 days, but Microsoft may limit number, type, or value. Pre‑orders can be cancelled up to 10 days before launch. Consumables are usually non‑refundable. Subscription refunds: within 30 days of purchase or the first recurring date; only one per product. Cancelling stops future charges.

Processing time: a refund request may take up to 72 hours. Once issued, money returns in 3–5 business days to the original payment method, though banks can delay. Denied requests can be appealed via email.
