Google Rolls Out Gemini in Chrome to UK Users

Google has rolled out Gemini for Chrome in the UK, adding an "Ask Gemini" button with a sparkle icon to the browser. The integration was previously exclusive to AI Pro or AI Ultra subscribers.

Google made the feature widely available in the US on desktop in late 2025, then expanded to Latin America, the Middle East, Canada, India, and New Zealand, reaching over 50 countries. On first use, Google notifies users that Gemini can access open tabs for more relevant answers, sharing tab content and URLs, with the current tab shared in new chats — a setting changeable anytime.

Gemini in Chrome can summarize lengthy content, compare information across multiple tabs, and integrates deeply with Gmail, Maps, Calendar, YouTube, and other Google apps. Users can ask it to check locations, add calendar events, draft emails, and generate images via the built-in Nano Banana image generator — all without leaving the browser.

Those who dislike the feature can simply right-click the "Ask Gemini" button at the top right corner of Chrome and select Unpin to remove it.
