Google has removed Doki Doki Literature Club! from the Play Store after determining it violated the platform's Terms of Service. Developer Dan Salvato and publisher Serenity Forge received notification about the game's depiction of sensitive themes. The psychological horror game has been downloaded over 30 million times for its free version and gained acclaim for its mental health portrayal.

Doki Doki Literature Club! appears as a dating sim with visual novel style but confronts players with serious themes of depression and suicide early in gameplay. The game was marked "Mature 17+" and included prominent warnings about its content. Developers emphasized the game's value in addressing mental health issues, stating it connects deeply with players worldwide.

Despite its removal from Google's store, the game remains available on Steam, PlayStation, Switch, and iOS. Salvato and Serenity Forge are working to have DDLC reinstated while exploring alternative distribution methods for Android users. The developers have asked Google for clarification on the specific policy violation.
