Eidos Montreal is cutting 124 jobs as part of a restructuring that will also see studio head David Anfossi depart. The layoffs come as the company adjusts to "changing project needs and impacts across production and support teams," according to a LinkedIn post from the studio.

Known for developing titles in the Deus Ex and Tomb Raider franchises, Eidos Montreal operates under Embracer Group. The parent company has been undergoing significant restructuring since 2023, which reportedly included canceling a new Deus Ex game that the studio was developing.

Despite the cuts, Eidos Montreal remains involved with upcoming projects including Grounded 2 from Obsidian Entertainment and the reimagined Fable from Playground Games. The layoffs reflect ongoing consolidation in the gaming industry as companies adjust to market conditions and shifting development priorities following Embracer's acquisition binge.
