Call of Duty is introducing Black Ops Royale, a new free battle royale mode launching March 13. The mode pays homage to Blackout from *Black Ops 4*, featuring 100 players dropping in as four-person teams on the massive Avalon map.

Unlike Warzone, Black Ops Royale removes familiar features like loadouts, the gulag, and buy stations. Instead, players will scavenge and upgrade weapons from the recent *Black Ops 7* game. The mode brings back weapon handling and bullet drop mechanics from Blackout, reimagined for modern Warzone players.

Players can customize their play style through an open-ended perks system that nods to the original Call of Duty battle royale mechanics. This new mode represents Activision's effort to blend nostalgic elements from earlier CoD battle royale experiences with the refined gameplay of Warzone, potentially attracting both longtime fans and new players to the franchise.
