ByteDance has reportedly suspended the global rollout of its AI video generator Seedance 2.0 following cease-and-desist letters from Disney and Paramount Skydance. The tool, which launched in China in February, drew immediate scrutiny from Hollywood studios after viral clips featuring AI-generated versions of Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise raised copyright concerns.

According to *The Information*, citing two anonymous sources, ByteDance has halted plans to release the AI video tool in other regions. The company faces mounting pressure over allegations that copyrighted materials were used to train the model without permission. In February, ByteDance told the BBC it was "taking steps to strengthen current safeguards" to prevent unauthorized use of intellectual property.

The suspension marks a significant setback for ByteDance's ambitions in AI-generated video content. While Seedance 2.0 remains available in China, the company hasn't disclosed when or if it will proceed with international expansion. The move reflects growing tensions between AI developers and content creators over the use of copyrighted works in training datasets.
