8BitDo's Ultimate 2 is a wireless Switch 2 controller that outperforms Nintendo's flagship gamepad in several ways. Priced at $70, it's $20 cheaper than the Switch 2 Pro and often on sale. The controller comes with a charging dock, 2.4G USB-C dongle, and spare key caps.
It features TMR joysticks, Hall effect triggers, adjustable haptics, and RGB rings. The compact, ergonomic design fits comfortably in smaller hands, with textured grips and smooth plastic chassis. It includes six shoulder inputs (L4/R4 bumpers), two rear buttons, and three custom profiles.
The Ultimate Software V2 allows deep customization of lights, macros, and button mapping. The D-pad and face buttons offer satisfying tactile feedback, while the triggers are buttery smooth. The only minor flaw is the low-profile, hard-to-read front buttons (plus, minus, square, star), which is common across Switch 2 controllers.
Overall, it's durable, versatile, and excellent for long play sessions.
