Apple has published estimated service costs for its new HomeView smart home display, while a PSA warns that the wall-mounted version needs a 20W adapter to function. Apple Insider reports that HomeView accessories will expand the device's capabilities through USB-C-connected audio bases, and that no biometrics are required for the device to display personal data.
New Hardware Launches
Apple introduced the HomePod mini 2, which can serve as the default speaker for select Macs. Speculation continues over whether the full-sized HomePod will receive Siri AI support, a question Apple's website hints at but does not answer. Software Betas
Apple seeded the third public betas of iOS 27.2 and macOS Golden Gate 27.2. Beta 4 introduced a new Apple Music icon, though the same build removed the redesigned Health app, and Apple Insider reported that Apple Music also shifted to black-and-white styling in the same release. 9to5Mac noted further design updates in iOS 27.2, and AirPods beta firmware rolled out alongside developer beta 4 for several models, including Air Pods Pro. Mac Rumors also reports that the iPhone Duo will ship with a day-one iOS 27.1 update.
Legal Matters
Apple is asking a federal judge to overturn a $5.7 billion patent verdict, arguing the damages were based on "guesswork." In a separate case, Judge Edward Davila granted Apple some expedited discovery requests in its trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI, and Apple Insider reports that Apple will receive some OpenAI documents but not everything it requested.
