TextExpander, a popular text expansion tool used across Mac, iPhone, and iPad, has introduced a new limited free tier. This version allows users to create up to five cross-platform snippets at no cost. The move expands access beyond previous platform restrictions, catering to users who previously relied on the paid version for basic automation needs.
The new free tier positions TextExpander competitively against other text expansion utilities. While the free version offers limited snippet creation, the full-featured subscription remains available for power users requiring advanced features and unlimited storage. This strategy aims to attract new users to the ecosystem, potentially converting them to paid plans over time.
Industry observers note that the launch reflects a broader trend of productivity software offering freemium models to grow user bases. By limiting the free tier to five snippets, TextExpander balances accessibility with incentives for upgrades. The update is now live and accessible via the official website.
