TerraMaster F4-425 Pro: Compact, High‑Core NAS with 5GbE

TerraMaster’s F4‑425 Pro packs a powerful Intel N305 eight‑core processor that bursts to 3.8 GHz, 8 GB DDR4 memory, and three 8 TB M.2 slots into a 5.9‑by‑7.1‑by‑8.6‑inch chassis. The unit offers four SATA bays that accept up to 30 TB drives each, for a raw capacity of 120 TB, and an overall maximum of 144 TB when the M.2 drives are added.

Storage flexibility is a highlight: the triple M.2 slots can be wired into a RAID 5 array, providing a fast, redundant SSD pool separate from the mechanical bays. RAID modes span from JBOD to RAID 10, and the proprietary TRAID system allows incremental capacity expansion, though it requires that all drives remain TerraMaster hardware.

Connectivity centers on dual 5 GbE ports that support link aggregation, delivering up to 1 GB/s in real‑world tests. Three USB 3.2 Gen2 (10 Gbps) ports, a USB‑C port, and an HDMI management jack round out the interface set. Noise stays low at 20.9 dB idle, rising to ~39 dB under full drive load.

Performance tests show 1,313 single‑core and 4,702 multi‑core Geekbench scores, enough for media transcoding up to 4K/60 fps and container workloads. The single 6.4‑pound form factor and non‑ECC RAM limit enterprise appeal, but for home media servers and backup solutions the F4‑425 Pro offers a scalable, cost‑effective platform that bridges entry‑level 2.5 GbE NAS and higher‑end 10 GbE models.
