Apple has declared the iPhone X and 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro officially obsolete, meaning repairs and parts are no longer offered by Apple or its authorized service providers. The iPhone X, launched in 2017, was the first iPhone to feature Face ID and an OLED screen. It suffered from green line display issues and Face ID failures, which Apple replaced in-store but never recalled. The 2018 MacBook Pro introduced the T2 security chip but also the problematic butterfly keyboard, which Apple replaced through a program ending in 2024.

Apple classifies products as "vintage" when discontinued for 5-7 years, and "obsolete" after seven years. Both devices have passed the seven-year mark since their final sale. The iPhone X cannot update beyond iOS 16, and the MacBook Pro is stuck on macOS Sequoia. Owners must now rely on third-party repairs, though fixing these devices may not be cost-effective in 2026.
