HomeView: Apple Says Siri AI Is the Killer Feature

Apple says the new Siri AI is the "magic" behind HomeView, its $299 home hub, and part of that magic is how little users should have to interact with it. The device was long rumored to be waiting on Siri AI, and now that both the hardware and the assistant are out, Apple is stressing how significant Siri AI is.

Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president of product marketing for home, told The Verge in a new interview that "with the magic of Siri AI, [HomeView] comes together in a way that we haven't been able to deliver before." Part of that magic is Siri AI's more conversational understanding of how people speak. Lilian Rincon, vice president of product marketing for AI at Apple, said it is "great because you can just ask it to change the temperature on your thermostat in a very natural way." She added that the experience works for anyone, from a user's mother-in-law to a Gen Z college student.

Rincon also stressed that Siri AI does not converse for its own sake. Unlike many assistants that keep asking questions to gather information, she said, Siri AI is there to get things done, take action, show users what they need, and then get out of the way. Rincon leads product marketing and management for Siri AI and Apple Intelligence and joined Apple from Google in March 2026.

Simplicity has trade-offs. HomeView does not ship until November 13, 2026, but its limitations are already becoming apparent. The screen is very small for a device Apple says can be wall mounted like a clock, and no apps can run on it, so features like Apple TV require AirPlay from an iPhone. Apple is reportedly working on a version with a larger display.
