Apple's Back to School Deal May Offset New Mac and iPad Price Hikes

Apple's annual Back to School promotion is expected to launch around July 1, offering eligible students a way to offset the company's recent price increases on Mac and iPad models. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported the promotion should arrive by next week, aligning with Apple's typical summer schedule in the United States and Canada.

Apple raised prices on several Mac and iPad models on June 25, making the upcoming promotion particularly timely for budget-conscious buyers. The company has historically offered free accessories worth up to $199 or Apple Gift Cards worth up to $150 with qualifying purchases during these promotions.

Recent years have seen Apple shift from free AirPods to accessories like AirPods, Apple Pencil Pro, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Mouse. The 2025 promotion included up to $199 worth of accessories with qualifying Mac and iPad purchases.

This year brings a notable change: Apple now requires UNi DAYS verification for education pricing in the US and Canada, preventing ineligible shoppers from claiming discounts. College students, parents, faculty, and staff can still qualify but must verify through school credentials before purchase. The promotion could ease the impact of Apple's latest price hikes for those who meet the new verification requirements.
