Amazon is expanding its Prime Air drone delivery service to nearly 500 cities and towns by the end of 2026, marking a sixfold increase from its current footprint. The program, which has been in development for over a decade, currently serves select metropolitan areas across Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, and Texas.

New locations set to launch soon include Chicago, Syracuse, Cleveland, Atlanta, and Boise. Prime Air operates through the existing Amazon shopping experience, allowing customers to opt for drone delivery when available. Deliveries are free for Prime members on orders of $50 or more, with non-Prime customers paying $4.99. The service can deliver eligible items weighing five pounds or less in as little as 30 minutes.

More than 60% of frequently purchased Amazon items qualify for drone delivery, including iPhones, AirPods, AirTags, and other small electronics. Once an order is placed, customers confirm the delivery point to ensure clear landing zones free of people, pets, or vehicles.
