Apple introduced two new AirPods 5 models at the iPhone 18 Pro event, starting at $129—lower than the previous generation. The key upgrades include Live Translation and 50% better Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). The design remains similar to AirPods 4 but not identical.

According to Dave Pakula, Apple's VP of Hardware Engineering, the new AirPods bring ANC to a more affordable price point. He highlighted the world-class listening experience and hands-free capabilities powered by Siri AI.

Apple also claims improved Adaptive EQ through a redesigned acoustic architecture. The higher-end model with Wireless Charging Case costs $149, which is $30 less than before, and features a force sensor for swipe volume control.

Battery life with ANC is now up to 5 hours per charge, an improvement of one hour. Preorders begin Saturday, with shipments starting September 18.
