Meta's Ray‑Ban Display Update Adds Palm Unlock, Live Sports & More

Meta’s Ray‑Ban Display glasses just received a firmware update that adds a handful of new features. Users on the subreddit report Palm Unlock, a biometric gate that reads the palm’s unique pattern, and Live Sports, which streams game data to the lenses. The update also introduces a POV camera for WhatsApp calls.

The patch, labeled v125, also adds posture detection that uses the glasses’ motion sensors to flag slouching or neck strain. It rolls out real‑time captions for phone calls and allows multi‑person video calls from the lenses, letting others see what you see through the built‑in camera.

Meta also unveiled a cellular connectivity page, letting users add SIM cards via a “Get Connected” interface. Earlier this month, the company opened the platform to third‑party developers and previewed its AI Muse Spark, hinting at future content generation on the glasses.

Not every user sees the update, suggesting a staggered rollout. With palm biometrics, live sports data, and integrated video calls, the glasses edge closer to a full‑blown AR accessory that blends security, entertainment, and connectivity in one lightweight frame. Consumers who rely on hands‑free communication will find the POV feature particularly useful.
