Google TV's Freeplay service has significantly expanded its offerings, now featuring over 10,000 on-demand movies and TV shows at no subscription cost. This move transforms Freeplay from a scheduled live-TV service into a comprehensive streaming platform, rivaling ad-supported competitors like Tubi and Pluto TV.

The service has also grown its live channel lineup to more than 300 channels, covering genres such as news, sports, reality TV, true crime, and entertainment. New additions include channels like Bloomberg TV+, Yahoo! Sports Network, and The Martha Stewart Channel. The rapid expansion saw Freeplay cross the 250-channel mark in December 2025 and add approximately 50 more in just a few months.

The expanded catalog boasts titles from studios like A24 and Lionsgate, including popular movies such as "Lady Bird," "Seventeen Again," and "Hell’s Kitchen." This library will be continuously updated. For Google TV owners, accessing this content is seamless, as Freeplay is integrated directly into the platform, eliminating the need for an additional app. The service is ad-supported and currently available in the U.S. with a Google account and internet connection.
