Gemini Gets 15‑Minute Memory, New Smart Home Updates

Google is rolling out several smart‑home updates, including one that expands Gemini’s “conversational memory” to 15 minutes. Gemini Live is now available on first‑gen Home Mini and Nest Hub devices for Google Home Premium subscribers, and the update brings clearer automation guidance and smart‑lock alerts for removed users. The Home app now warns when an automation is saved with conditions but no starter, and it labels smart blinds and window coverings more precisely.

The 2026 update for Nest Cameras (wired, third‑gen Nest Cam Indoor, wired, second‑gen Nest Cam Outdoor, and wired third‑gen Nest Doorbell) and new support for Walmart’s Onn Outdoor Plug‑In and Outdoor Floodlight Hardwired cameras are also included. Bug fixes round out the release.

Users can now follow up on a request within those 15 minutes—for example, turning on lights in one room and then changing the command without restarting the conversation. The patch echoes the earlier Continued Conversations feature and should make smart‑home interactions feel more seamless.

Google acknowledges more work is needed, and user feedback remains crucial. These updates are a step toward a smarter, more responsive home.
