Galaxy S26 Plus Review: Great Phone But Overpriced Compared to Ultra

The Galaxy S26 Plus is a capable Android phone with impressive performance and AI features, but its $1,099 price tag makes it hard to recommend over the more powerful Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung's latest flagship offers the same core hardware as last year's model, lacking meaningful upgrades despite the Plus designation. This leaves buyers questioning the value proposition when the Ultra variant delivers superior camera capabilities and features for just $100 more.

Design changes are minimal, with the S26 Plus retaining the S25 Plus's familiar look while adding a slightly protruding camera housing that causes uneven placement on surfaces. The display remains a strong point, though Samsung hasn't improved its brightness or PWM settings. One UI 8.5 enhances the user experience with refined animations and new AI tools like Gemini screen automation, which works well for tasks like ordering food. However, the Samsung Keyboard remains a significant drawback.

While the camera hardware hasn't changed, the software brings useful AI features that elevate the experience. Still, the lack of a Privacy Display and magnetic charging are notable omissions. The phone's strengths in performance and battery life are overshadowed by its position as the least compelling option in Samsung's S-series lineup, making it a tough sell at its premium price point.
