Samsung announced during its recent Galaxy Unpacked event that the upcoming Galaxy Ring will feature FDA-cleared Sleep Apnea detection, available "this fall." This makes the Galaxy Ring the "first and only" smart ring with over-the-counter FDA clearance for such a feature.

This capability builds upon Samsung's existing Sleep Apnea detection for its smartwatches. The Galaxy Watch 9, announced at the same event, also received FDA clearance for this feature, utilizing AI algorithms for deeper sleep insights. Samsung's journey with Sleep Apnea detection began in 2023 with approval in South Korea, followed by global FDA clearance in February 2024 for its watches, though the feature rolled out to devices in 2025.

The Galaxy Ring's Sleep Apnea detection, powered by its sensor, aims to provide users with better insight into sleep disruptions. Sleep Apnea is a serious condition that can lead to increased cardiovascular risks if left untreated. Samsung's move positions the Galaxy Ring as a significant health-focused wearable.
