Discord goes native on Meta Quest VR headsets

Discord has released a native launcher for Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro and Quest 3 via the Horizon App Store. The client mirrors phone and PC versions, giving users access to servers, text channels and group DMs without opening a browser. It also supports push alerts, so messages appear instantly.

The rollout coincides with Meta’s push to make the Quest a full‑stack gaming platform. A Steam Link app already streams PCVR titles, and the new Discord client lets players join voice calls as their Meta Avatars and even broadcast gameplay from the headset. From June 30 to September 30, anyone who signs in receives one month of Discord Nitro. No extra setup required.

With Discord now native, Quest owners no longer juggle tabs or external browsers to coordinate raids, stream sessions or casual chats. The integration reinforces Meta’s strategy of courting third‑party services after CTO Andrew Bosworth warned against the “abandon VR” narrative. Overall, it tightens the social loop.
