Why Auto-Deleting Siri Chats Isn't for Everyone

Bloomberg reports that Apple's upcoming Siri app, powered by Google's Gemini, will include an option to automatically delete conversation history. This builds on Apple's privacy stance: AI runs on-device or on Private Cloud Compute servers, and Siri chats cannot be used to train Gemini.

Despite that privacy win, 9to5Mac's editor explains why he won't enable auto-delete. AI chatbots like Claude learn from chat history to personalize responses. He has trained his chatbot with explicit instructions and implicit context, resulting in more tailored answers over time.

Instead, he prefers manually deleting sensitive chats and starting new conversations per topic to avoid token bloat. The new Siri app will offer 30-day, yearly, or indefinite retention options, similar to Messages. This approach preserves useful context while maintaining control.
