WhatsApp Updates iOS Chat Lists to Reduce Interface Clutter

WhatsApp is updating its iOS interface to help iPhone users manage chat lists more efficiently. Version 26.21.74, now available on the App Store and TestFlight, allows users to hide less-used filters. This change prevents the horizontal row at the top of the Chats tab from becoming overcrowded as users create more custom categories.

Users can now decide which default filters, like Favorites or Groups, stay visible and which move into a secondary Filter menu. This reorganization solves a specific UX problem for power users who maintain numerous custom lists. The update also introduces a Drafts list, which automatically tracks every message started but never sent.

Android users already have this functionality, and the iOS release brings parity to the platform. While the update is live, the company often rolls out features gradually, meaning some users may not see these changes immediately. This update prioritizes organization by separating active conversations from archived or pending drafts in a secondary Filter menu.
