WhatsApp expands multi‑account support to iOS devices

WhatsApp has begun rolling out multi-account support to iOS users via the standard App Store version. The feature, long requested by consumers, lets a single device host two separate WhatsApp numbers. Users can verify a new phone number or link an existing account by scanning a QR code, then toggle between them from the Account menu. The option sits in Settings > Account, confirming its release.

The rollout follows a November beta that surfaced after WABetaInfo discovered code hints for both multi‑account capability and the upcoming username system. WhatsApp’s history of phased releases means only a subset of users see the “Add account” option under Settings > Account today. Early adopters report smooth switching between profiles.

Adding a second account expands iPhone users’ ability to separate work and personal communications without carrying two phones. It also signals that WhatsApp is laying groundwork for broader identity features hinted at in the code. For now, the functionality arrives only where the add‑account toggle appears, making the feature a practical but still limited upgrade. It also reduces the need for dual‑SIM phones.
