It is ironic that fun apps for a brand new iPhone turn it into an old device. Tiny Computers turns the iPhone Duo into a series of vintage Macs and non-Apple machines from a similar era. Users can choose between four vintage Macs and machines like the Commodore 64, IBM PC, Amiga 500, Think Pad, and two different laptops running Windows 95 and Windows XP.
Each machine offers limited functionality, allowing users to enjoy clicking keyboards, working command lines, paint programs, floppy disks and familiar desktop games. Open windows, write a note, draw something small and explore each computer’s personality. Hidden files, secret commands and a medal for every computer’s game are waiting to be found.
Occasionally, even Windows crashes. As Daring Fireball’s John Gruber comments: “If you’ve got or get a Duo and don’t try this out, you’re not hooked up right.” Tiny Computers is available on the App Store.
