Messaging platform Telegram appeared to have been removed from the App Store in multiple countries, though the reason for its disappearance remained unclear. As of Monday evening, searches for Telegram on the iOS and iPadOS App Store were no longer returning the app for some users across several regions. However, existing users could still access the app, and it remained available through the Mac App Store and Google Play. Neither Apple nor Telegram had issued statements about the situation at the time of writing.

Telegram has been removed from the App Store before. In February 2018, Apple temporarily removed the app after discovering what it classified as inappropriate content. Telegram founder Pavel Durov said Apple had alerted the company, prompting Telegram to introduce additional protections before the app was restored. In 2023, the app was temporarily banned in Brazil for failing to provide authorities with information about groups accused of promoting violence in schools.

In 2024, Telegram was removed from the Chinese App Store alongside WhatsApp, Threads, and Signal after Apple received an order from the country's internet regulator. That removal remains in effect.

As of the latest update, Telegram has returned to the App Store. The company posted on X, saying, 'Reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated,' but has not yet explained what caused the app to disappear.
