Replit unveiled Mobile Apps by Replit, a new feature that generates React Native apps from user descriptions. The tool aims to simplify mobile development by removing traditional barriers like Xcode and complex workflows. Users describe an idea, wait a few minutes, and scan a QR code to test on iOS.

The platform offers full visibility into the app-building process, allowing users to tweak prompts or edit code directly. In early tests, simple apps were generated in under 10 minutes, though results varied in quality. Replit’s CEO has past ties to React Native, hinting at strategic alignment.

While not production-ready, these AI-generated apps may appeal to hobbyists or educators. Replit also enables direct publishing to the App Store for users with developer accounts. However, maintaining a public app demands more rigor than vibe-coded experiments can offer.
