We know for sure that Apple will increase iPhone prices when the iPhone 18 Pro launches next month. The company exempted existing iPhones when it increased prices across the board to reflect higher memory prices, but that was only ever going to be a temporary reprieve. However, two sources are now suggesting that the starting price of this year’s Pro models will be $1,399 – and I find it hard to believe even Apple would go that far …

Apple has shown it wants to protect its margins and isn’t afraid to raise prices dramatically. The base model MacBook Air rose $200 from $1,099 to $1,299, and the MacBook Neo, once $599, went up $100. A $300 jump for the iPhone 18 Pro would be a 27% increase, far larger than the $300 rise that took the base MacBook Pro from $1,699 to $1,999, a near‑18% gain.

Tim Cook hinted the company isn’t set on protecting margins at any cost. While a lease program may soften the blow, buying outright at the new price could deter many upgrades, especially with next year’s Pro model expected to be a bigger deal.
