### iPhone Air Trade-In Value Same as iPhone 17

Following the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo announcement, Apple has started accepting iPhone Air and iPhone 17 trade-ins for credit, despite no newer versions being released yet. The iPhone 17 now starts at $899 after a $100 price increase, with Apple offering up to $585 for trade-in. The iPhone Air also saw a $100 price increase this week, raising its starting price to $1099.

However, its trade-in value remains the same at $585—identical to the iPhone 17’s offer. This means the $200 premium paid for the iPhone Air over the iPhone 17 disappears in trade-in value. Apple likely bases trade-in values on demand and component worth rather than retail price, which is disappointing given the iPhone Air uses nearly the same chip as the iPhone 17 Pro.

While iPhone Air’s retail value increased by $100 for new buyers, its trade-in value does not reflect that gain, making the upgrade path less favorable for owners.
