iPhone 18 Base Model Delayed to Early 2027

Apple's September event is approaching, but the base iPhone 18 won't be part of the lineup. Per multiple reports dating back to May 2025, the base model has been pushed to early 2027 as Apple revamps its launch schedule. This is a surprising departure from the typical September rollout that includes a base model alongside Pro variants and sometimes an iPhone Air.

Three models are expected to debut next month: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra. The remaining trio—iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2—will arrive in early 2027, likely no later than March. Possible reasons for the delay include Apple strategically spacing out releases to accommodate more models or anticipating supply constraints due to a memory crisis.

Despite the absence, the base iPhone 18 is not canceled, just delayed. For those waiting to upgrade without paying a premium for Pro or Ultra models, the wait extends a few months beyond the usual cycle.
