Apple rolls out iOS 27 Home app upgrades ahead of new hardware, focusing on two major features: AI-enhanced Home Kit Secure Video and smarter real-time notification updates. The revamped Secure Video adds AI-generated clip descriptions, searchable footage, and 4K recording support, moving beyond the previous 1080p limit. 4K video now compatible with select cameras like the budget-friendly Aqara G100 and premium eufy 4K models, giving users higher-resolution footage for the first time. Meanwhile, the new notification system uses Apple Intelligence to bundle related home events—such as a door opening and arrival—into a single, updating alert, eliminating clutter from stale alerts.
Inside settings, a ‘Reduce Notifications’ toggle explains the behavior, promising one live-updating alert instead of multiple redundant messages. These changes signal Apple’s push to make the Home app more intuitive and capable as smart home hardware expands.
