CarPlay Could Come to Your Jet Ski

While Tesla might be the last company anyone expects to adopt CarPlay, another unlikely vehicle maker is considering Apple's infotainment system. Sea-Doo, a brand under BRP, could integrate CarPlay into its personal watercraft. The company already shares a touchscreen system with Can-Am, which has CarPlay support on its motorcycles.

Sea-Doo is evaluating customer interest before committing to the integration. It would need a microphone and navigation limitations would need to be addressed. The potential benefits include access to music apps and communication while keeping your iPhone secure. However, Apple's approval for off-road applications is challenging.

Christian Comtois, Sea-Doo's global product strategy manager, hinted at the possibility, stating that it's a matter of evaluating customer needs. CarPlay has been around for over a decade in various forms, from aftermarket head units to wireless adapters. The company seems to be gauging consumer demand.

This move potentially expands CarPlay beyond cars and motorcycles, opening the door to other powersports applications. If Sea-Doo adopts it, consumers could enjoy a more connected experience on the water, similar to the experience offered by Apple in other vehicles. We'll see if customer demand pushes this forward.
