Apple TV Thriller 'The Hunt' Set for March Release After Plagiarism Probe

Apple TV+ has rescheduled the French thriller The Hunt for March 4 after a three-month delay caused by a plagiarism investigation. The series was abruptly pulled from the release calendar last November, just two weeks before its scheduled premiere, when Apple and production partner Gaumont discovered allegations that the show was based on an existing work.

Unlike other delayed series such as The Savant, which remains listed in Apple's upcoming slate, The Hunt was completely scrubbed from Apple's press site and YouTube channels. The controversy stemmed from claims that the series, initially presented as original, was actually based on Douglas Fairbairn's novel Shoot. According to Deadline, Gaumont immediately took steps to identify rights holders and obtain necessary authorizations once the issue came to light.

The series stars Benoît Magimel as Franck, who goes hunting with friends only to encounter another group of hunters targeting them without explanation. When one of their party is shot, the friends strike back, but soon find themselves being watched and tracked by hunters seeking revenge. The thriller also features Mélanie Laurent as Franck's wife Krystel. The Hunt will premiere on Apple TV+ March 4, three months after its originally planned release date.
