Apple TV is expanding its Formula 1 coverage beyond streaming with a partnership to show select races live in IMAX theaters. The collaboration will bring five Grand Prix events to more than 50 IMAX locations across the United States, including iconic circuits like Silverstone, Monaco, and Monza.

This marks Apple's second major Formula 1 push in theaters after last year's F1: The Movie starring Brad Pitt. The first live race screening will be the Miami Grand Prix on May 3. Apple Services VP Oliver Schusser emphasized the move brings "energy and excitement to even more screens in a truly immersive way."

The initiative is part of IMAX's broader strategy to diversify beyond traditional movie showings by embracing live sports and concert events. Apple is also making F1 accessible in commercial venues through a separate deal with EverPass Media, covering restaurants, bars, and clubs across the US. With Formula 1 streaming exclusively on Apple TV starting March 7, the company is clearly betting big on motorsports to drive subscriber growth.
