Apple Cuts Studio Display XDR Price by $400

Apple has slashed the price of its Studio Display XDR by $400 for the VESA mount option, dropping the entry price to $2899 just weeks after launch. The Pro Display XDR with Apple's tilt-adjustable stand remains at $3299, making the VESA mount the new budget choice for buyers who already have a compatible stand.

This rare price adjustment comes less than a month after the display's debut, where both configurations launched at $3299. The move suggests Apple's manufacturing costs for the VESA mount are significantly lower than the stand-equipped model. Apple has also redesigned the purchasing flow on its website, making the VESA mount option the default choice to highlight the lower price point.

The price cut applies only to the high-end Pro Display XDR model. The standard Studio Display continues at $1599 regardless of stand choice, with the height-adjustable stand still costing an additional $400. This means only buyers of Apple's premium monitor benefit from the discount, while the more affordable model maintains its original pricing structure.
