Apple Adds AI Permission Prompt for Google Cloud Data

Apple now notifies users that data will leave the device when using certain AI tools in iOS 27 and iOS 26.

The new prompt appears when users tap shape generation in iWork on iOS 26 and in Freeform on iOS 27, and it also shows up for similar features in the recently updated Apple Creator Studio.

Apple’s earlier Private Cloud Compute ran only on Apple silicon, but the company now extends the same security architecture to Google Cloud. സ്ഥാന The system keeps network parsing in a dedicated process, recycles inference software quickly, and stores attested keys inside a confidential virtual machine isolated from external input.

For consumers, the popup provides clear notice that data is routed to Google Cloud. For the industry, it signals Apple’s willingness to partner with external cloud providers while maintaining tight security controls, a model that other vendors may copy as AI services grow.
