The Lido Labs Foundation introduced stVaults on the Ethereum mainnet. This system enables Layer-2 (L2) networks and other builders to customize their Ethereum staking experiences. Instead of building from scratch, teams can plug into Lido’s existing infrastructure. This reduces the complexity and cost of creating staking products, fostering innovation within the Ethereum ecosystem.

stVaults allow for custom validator configurations and the optional minting of stETH, while maintaining connections to Lido's liquidity and DeFi integrations. The move reflects the evolving Ethereum staking environment, which now demands more specialized setups. Linea, Consensys’ L2 network, and blockchain analytics firm Nansen are among the initial adopters of stVaults.

This shift allows for institutional-grade staking with stricter controls and application-specific staking products. Lido's stETH remains a key component, with stVaults designed to operate alongside the core staking protocol. The goal is to avoid fragmentation of liquidity across competing pools. This modular approach is a step towards more efficient and flexible Ethereum staking.

Isidoros Passadis, chief of staking at Lido Labs Foundation, stated that stVaults support diverse needs within a single framework. As Ethereum staking evolves, expect to see more innovative approaches. The success of stVaults could influence how other staking providers adapt to the changing demands of the market.
