Aramco has signed a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft to accelerate industrial artificial intelligence deployment in Saudi Arabia. The agreement builds on existing collaboration between the two companies and focuses on moving AI from pilot projects into core operational systems using Microsoft's Azure cloud platform.

Central to the deal is strengthening digital sovereignty and data governance, with both companies exploring cloud deployment frameworks that incorporate sovereign controls. This aligns with Riyadh's push to localize critical digital infrastructure and ensure sensitive industrial data remains under national jurisdiction. The partnership also aims to optimize Aramco's upstream, downstream, and chemicals operations through streamlined digital frameworks.

The MoU outlines plans to engage Saudi technology integrators and industry partners to widen AI adoption across the Kingdom's industrial value chain. Aramco and Microsoft are also exploring co-development and commercialization of industrial AI intellectual property, potentially creating a global marketplace for AI-powered operational systems tailored to the energy sector. This positions Saudi Arabia to compete internationally with domestically developed solutions.
