Amazon Cuts 100+ Jobs in Robotics Division

Amazon confirmed layoffs affecting at least 100 white-collar workers in its robotics unit, marking the latest round of job cuts at the e-commerce giant. The division responsible for designing warehouse automation robots and conveyances saw positions eliminated as part of ongoing restructuring efforts.

This follows Amazon's January announcement of 16,000 job cuts and comes after the company halted development of its Blue Jay robotic arm project. The layoffs are tied to efficiency gains from artificial intelligence and cultural revisions within the organization. Starting with 14,000 white-collar employees in October, Amazon has now trimmed 30,000 corporate positions across multiple rounds.

The job cuts represent nearly 10% of Amazon's white-collar workforce, though the company employs 1.5 million workers globally, with most being hourly staff in fulfillment centers. The robotics layoffs follow similar reductions in Amazon's devices and services, books, podcasts, and public relations units over the past year.
