Two U.S. Navy vessels collided in the Caribbean Sea on Wednesday, injuring two sailors, according to U.S. Southern Command. The USS Truxtun destroyer and USNS Supply supply ship were conducting a replenishment operation when the incident occurred during a routine parallel maneuver.

Both ships were part of the Trump administration's expanded naval presence in the region, which includes 12 vessels and the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier. The USS Truxtun had recently deployed from Norfolk, Virginia, after emergency repairs delayed its departure. The ships are now sailing safely following the collision.

The incident marks another collision in the Navy's recent history. In February 2025, the USS Harry S. Truman collided with a merchant vessel near the Suez Canal, causing minor damage but no injuries. An investigation found the Truman was traveling at unsafe speeds while behind schedule, highlighting ongoing concerns about operational safety during complex naval maneuvers.
